Dashboard & Insights

The dashboard is your at-a-glance view of a single connected AWS account. Use the account switcher to change which account you're looking at — every dashboard is scoped to the active account.

Insights and Preceptor

Two embedded dashboards sit side by side under a segmented switch:

• Insights — your QuickSight analytics on your live AWS Marketplace data.
• Preceptor — the CUDOS-based cost and usage dashboard for the account.

Switch between them with the segment control. Either embed can be expanded to full screen for a closer look, and collapsed again with the button or the Escape key.

"Check again" is normal

Dashboards are built per account after that account is first verified, so it is normal to see an honest not-ready state right after setup while your dashboard is still being prepared. This isn't an error — use Check again to re-poll, and the embed appears once it's ready.

Installing Preceptor

Preceptor reads a Cost and Usage Data Export from your payer (management) account, so it is installed once per payer account and covers your whole tenant — not per connected account. Open Install guide on the Preceptor tab for the same steps with copy-ready values.

1. Send CloudSmart the payer account id. We allow-list it before your exports are accepted; installation only takes effect after that.
2. Deploy the template in the payer account, in us-east-1. The install guide's Open CloudFormation quick-create link opens the console with the template and parameters prefilled. The parameters are DestinationAccountId (the CloudSmart account shown in the guide), TenantId (yours), EnableSCAD = yes and TimeGranularity = HOURLY.
3. Optional: request a 12-month backfill. A new export starts empty. The guide provides an aws support create-case command that asks AWS Billing to backfill the cudos-cur2 export.
4. Wait for the first export. Data appears once the first export replicates to CloudSmart — up to 24 hours. Use Check again on the Preceptor tab.

Until it is installed, the Preceptor tab shows an honest empty state with the install guide rather than an error. Because the dashboard is tenant-wide, it opens from your default account — switching accounts does not create a second Preceptor dashboard.

Cloud Health

Below the embeds, the Cloud Health section summarizes the health of the account across five pillars:

• Security
• Cost Optimization
• Fault Tolerance
• Performance
• Service Limits

The section renders tolerantly: if a data source isn't available yet for an account, you'll see a clear message rather than a broken card, and a Refresh control to reload.
